The Geneva Historical Society is currently researching a future exhibit on summer in the Finger Lakes. They are looking for anything that will help tell about vacationing–stories about vacations, work in the tourist industry, camping, etc. In partnership with six other museums in the Finger Lakes and the Finger Lakes Association, the society would like to learn more about cottages and childhood on the lake, swimming, boating, summer foods, entertainment, parks and beaches, and work in vacation-related businesses. They seek objects, photographs, and documents, particularly for the years 1950 through 2000. Items might include indoor and outdoor cottage furnishings, recipes and restaurant menus, bathing suits, work outfits and tools, posters, tickets, and toys.
Please contact John Marks at the Geneva Historical Society, 789-5151, with information to share or ideas about people and places to include in the exhibit.
