The Wayne County Council for the Arts will host an opening reception for the Clyde Paton/Susan Stanistreet gallery exhibition from 5 – 7 p.m. on Friday, October 4, at 108 West Miller St., Newark. The reception is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend. Wine, cheese and music will make the evening festive. The paintings, sculpture and drawings presented represent the work of two very different artists. For more information call 331-4593.
Paton began his artistic endeavors in Lyons. He is in charge of installing artwork at the Corcoran Museum, Washington, D.C. In that capacity he travels the world with exhibitions, ensuring their proper display. He is also the curator of the National Scholastic Art Show. His work consists of paintings, prints and drawings.
Stanistreet uses clay as a vehicle to make music and in combination with beads as dreamcatchers and candle towers. She uses the mix of multiple layers and shadows to reveal the inner realm of her artwork. She has most recently exhibited in Oswego, at the Arts Council and at the New York State Fair.
