The Geneva Theatre Guild will present the family comedy Over the River and Through the Woods at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 18 and 19, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Sons of Italy Lodge, 31 Prospect Avenue, Geneva.
The play is being presented at the Sons of Italy Lodge as part of their Italian Heritage and Culture Month. October is also National Community Theatre Month.
Faced with the prospect of having their beloved grandson move to a new job in Seattle, two sets of grandparents try to figure a way to keep him from leaving them. Their solution is to find a nice, single girl, so he will get married and settle down.
Appearing in the production are Genevans Nick Kogut, as the grandson, and Dan Chacchia as Frank Gianelli, Nick's maternal grandfather. Richeen Smith, of Canandaigua, plays Aida Gianelli, Nick's maternal grandmother. The paternal grandparents, Nunzio and Emma Cristano, are played by Jim Bero of Seneca Falls and Kathy Mater of Newark. Stanley resident Michelle Caward plays Caitlin O'Hare, the arranged love interest for Nick.The production is directed by retired FLCC theatre professor Ruth Legg.
Tickets for Over the River and Through the Woods are on sale at the Sons of Italy and Martin Music, Castle St., Geneva; the Copy Shop in downtown Seneca Falls; and at the door before each performance. Admission is $8 for adults and $6 for senior citizens and students.
