Learn to Read Hebrew

During the months of November and December, 2002, members of the Finger Lakes Jewish community are invited to gather at Temple Beth-El to participate in the only continent-wide campaign aimed at teaching North American Jews to read the Hebrew language. Conceived and orchestrated by the National Jewish Outreach Program (NJOP), Read Hebrew America/Canada is expected to reach 15,000 Jews in the United States and Canada.

Led by Cantor Richard Rosenfield, the five week Hebrew reading crash course will focus on teaching the Hebrew alphabet and basic reading skills to Jews and members of interfaith families with little or no background in Hebrew. Classes will meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 7, 14, 21, and Dec. 5, and 12, at the Temple.
