Seneca Community Players announces auditions for its upcoming show, Jane Anderson’s “Looking For Normal”, a thoughtful and sometimes humorous piece about a man’s struggle to find his true identity. Open auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 10 and 11 at SCP Headquarters, Canalside, Seneca Falls. The play will be presented April 3-6, at the Delavan Theatre on the campus of the New York Chiropractic College.
The play’s main character, Roy, is a middle aged man living in middle America who dearly loves his wife of 25 years, Irma, but has decided it is time to finally accept his true self and live life as a woman. The play focuses on Roy’s struggle with himself, as well as his family’s struggle with his startling announcement. Along with Roy and Irma, other main characters in the play include Patty Ann, their 13-year-old daughter, Wayne their 20-something son who is a roadie for a rock band, and Reverend Muncie, the pastor who tries initially to refute and later to understand Roy’s decision. Additional parts include Roy’s very traditional father, Roy Sr., Roy’s mother Em, and Roy’s Grandmother Ruth (from another time).
Audition materials will be provided on site. For more information, please contact the show’s director, Becky Bly at (315) 568-9364.
