Pianist Hobson Performs in Auburn

Pianist Ian Hobson will perform an all-Chopin program in the first of the local 2003 Adams Foundation Piano Series recitals on Sunday, March 2. The Cayuga County Arts Council and Westminster Presbyterian Church co-host the program, which includes a performance by Ruth Laredo on Sunday, March 30. Both concerts begin at 2 p.m. in the Westminster Sanctuary at 17 William St. in Auburn.

Auburn was one of five sites selected for the 2001-2002 inaugural series in this pilot project designed to re-establish piano and duo-piano recitals throughout the country. Auburn natives John and Richard Contiguglia have been instrumental in bringing first-rate pianists to smaller communities with the support of Stephen Adams of Santa Barbara, California. The Contiguglias delighted the audience at Auburn’s first piano series concert in 2001and remain active as project planners and performers.

Series tickets for both concerts may be purchased for $20. Individual performance tickets are available for $15 and student tickets are $5 for either performance. Ticket outlets in Auburn are Speno Music at 3 E. Genesee St., The Auburn Musician at 165 Grant Ave., Cayuga County Office of Tourism at 131 Genesee St. and at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
