The South Bristol Cultural Center is pleased to announce their summer schedule of classes and events. The first class begins June 4. Registration is now open. A certain number of scholarships are available, so please inquire by calling (585) 396-5950. Summer offerings include:
June 18 – Women's Wellness Day – 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Come celebrate well-being by enjoying Yoga classes, Tai Chi, getting a complimentary massage, learning about cranial sacral and Reiki, receiving a rejuvenating herbal facial steamer, and meditating in the sun. Enjoy a lecture about helpful healing herbs for women while sipping tea. A light lunch will be provided. Wear comfortable clothing; bring a blanket, a towel and a medium sized glass bowl for the facial steamer. Enrollment fee is $45 for the day and lunch.
June 22 – “Summer Barn” Art Exhibit and Reception, 2-4 p.m.
Come meet the gallery artists and view their new works. Open to the public and free of charge. Refreshments.
August 15 and 16 – “Humphrey Bogart Film Festival”
Opening reception Friday at 7 p.m., followed by the first film showing at 8 p.m. Saturday evening double feature begins at 7 p.m. Festival passport includes all three films and reception for $20; individual movie tickets $6.
September 6 – “A Barn Dance”
Featuring the bluegrass band “Cuttin the Grass,” 8 – 11 p.m. Admission $8.
Six Monday evenings from 7-8 p.m., June 23 – July 28. Learn the basic steps and moves of swing dancing taught by father and daughter team, David Snaith and Kate Starr. All ages welcome, participants don't need a partner. Tuition is $54 members, $60 nonmembers.
Beginning Oil Painting – Tuesday evenings
June 3 – 24, 7 – 9 p.m. No experience necessary, the course is designed for the person who wants to discover the artist within. Members $72, nonmember $80.
