Wayne Senior Citizens Show Off their Art

The Wayne Arts Gallery is now full with the Senior Citizens Art Show. Wayne County seniors have been invited to show a few pieces of their artwork during the month of July. Some of the pieces are the resulting creations of those attending the weekly “Oil Classes for Everyone” on Thursdays at Wayne Arts.

A corner of the exhibition features Airplane Nose Art by Newark resident, Owen Hughes. His artwork spans the years from WWII when he painted artwork on the front of planes flying over the front lines to today when he was commissioned to paint “Doc” of Disney fame onto the last B-29 Superfortress.

The Meet the Artists reception is scheduled from 5 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, at 108 West Miller Street in Newark. The artwork will be on display until Friday, July 25. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.
