Director of Public Service Ave Bauder is now a member of the Romulus School Board, filling one of two vacant positions on the board, according to the Sept. 29 Finger Lakes Times story Romulus fills pair of board seats. He will be sworn in at the meeting Oct. 2, and will have to run for a full term in May to continue to serve.
Bauder is a member of the Hobart College Class of 1981, and holds a master’s degree in higher education administration from Syracuse University. He is co-chair of the Romulus school district’s Shared Decision Making Committee. Among the district’s challenges, according to Bauder, is the aging building, which he said must be updated for the 21st century; more state mandates without the funding to pay for them; and the need to balance what local residents can afford while maintaining a quality educational program. He noted many older residents no longer feel the need to support education.
