In conjunction with All Hallow’s Eve this year, the Geneva Historical Society is conducting walking tours of historic Washington Street Cemetery beginning at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26. Admission is free. Explore the history of Geneva’s oldest extant cemetery and find out about the many significant and interesting people buried in it. Learn the meaning behind some of the symbols and sentiments carved on the stones and how they reflect the Victorian view of death.
Guided tours will be led through the cemetery beginning at 2 p.m. and will last approximately 45 minutes. If you are interested in attending, please call the office at 315-789-5151 to reserve a spot. Depending on interest, additional tours may be staggered every 30 minutes. Volunteer guides may be needed. Please call 315-789-5151 to find out about volunteering.
