Adult Mentors Sought for Boys and Girls Club

The Boys and Girls Club is looking for adult mentors for a program called The Friendship. Twenty children are on a waiting list looking for a special friend. When was the last time that you took the time to share some fun with a child and have some play time for yourself?

Friends in the program meet at the club on the first Monday of every month for fun activities at the club and to connect with each other. The rest of the quality time is then up to the adult and the child¹s family as to where to go and what they will do outside of the club. The program is a one-year commitment but can continue for years. Some fun activities that some mentors have done with their matched children are going to the movies, bowling, ice-skating, roller-skating, and baking and cooking. Others have gone out for something to eat, ball games, doing crafts, playing board games, and watching videos together. They also have gone to our club to play basketball, shoot pool, do crafts, cook, and bake.

Those who are willing to be a volunteer and make a commitment to a child who wants a special relationship with an adult, please call Bonnie Greene at 789-8169.
