This spring the Hangar Theatre has designed two adult classes for people interested in theatre and the craft of reading, writing, and enjoying theatre. Members of the Play Reading Club, which will meet Tuesdays, April 6 through May 4, will read and discuss plays from the Hangar's 2004 season (including Blue Room and Of Mice and Men), an original play from the Hangar's School Tour season, and other theatrical works. Discussions will focus on how to read plays effectively, how scripts are conceived and adapted, and how productions transfer from the page to the stage.
Playwright and Hangar teaching artist Richard Keller will teach a five-session playwriting class on Mondays, April 5 through May 3. This workshop is open to individuals who are thinking about writing a play, in the midst of writing a play, or have completed one or more drafts. Work will be tailored to each individual's needs, whether they are beginning writers or already have an understanding of playwriting craft.
All classes take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in downtown Ithaca at the Clinton House. Registration is $75 for either class. Enrollment deadline is April 2. Call (607) 273-8588 ext. 410 or e-mail email@example.com for additional information.
