Mathews Published in Japan

Stanley Mathews, assistant professor of art history, was invited to have published a remembrance of the late British architect Cedric Price, in the October 2003 issue of A+U, a prestigious Japanese architecture journal with worldwide distribution. Mathews is a leading expert on Cedric Price, who was the subject of his doctoral dissertation and with whom he had become friends in recent years. Price was a leader in the British New Wave of postwar architects, who took inspiration from Buckminster Fuller, and whose work inspired High-Tech structures, such as the Pompidou Center in Paris. Mathews is preparing a book on Price’s work, and is organizing a memorial symposium in collaboration with the Architecture League of New York to honor Price and his contribution to contemporary architecture.
