The grand opening of the Women's Interfaith Institute in the Finger Lakes, Bringing Peace to Life, will be held June 18-19 at 140 Fall Street in Seneca Falls. Events scheduled include the following:
Friday, June 18:
7 p.m.: Art Exhibition of quilts and wall hangings by area artists featuring pieces inspired by heroic women. Alice Gant, curator. The exhibit is open all weekend.
7:30 p.m.: “A Return to Idealism” Dr. David Hanna will share the story of the Institute's historic building — its origin, history and new purpose. A reception will follow the question and answer period.
Saturday, June 19, Opening Celebration
9:30 a.m.: Ribbon Cutting
10 a.m.: Keynote Address featuring Dr. Maura O'Neill, author of “Women Speaking, Women Listening: Women in Interreligious Dialogue”
1 p.m.: “Bringing Peace to Life” a panel discussion featuring four women from different faith traditions (Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Native American) sharing stories of their experiences in working for peace.
3:30 p.m.: Unveiling the Peace Pole
