Parish Presents Invited Lecture at International Conference

Carol Parish, associate professor of chemistry, was recently invited to lecture at the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) meeting in Ottawa, Canada. Parish presented results on the molecular behavior and flexibility of a new class of important materials nicknamed “POSS,” short for polyoligomeric silsesquioxanes. These cage-like molecules have captured the attention of the chemistry community recently due to their unusual structure and promising applications. The work performed in Parish’s laboratory was in collaboration with Martel Zeldin of the HWS chemistry department and two students, Sean Hillson and Jennifer Pratt.
