McGowan’s Tribute to Deir Yassin Activist Published

Daniel McGowan, professor of economics, wrote a tribute to Issam Mufid Nashashibi, published in the November 2003 issue of “The Washington Report on Middle East Affairs.” Nashashibi spoke at the April 2003 Dei Yassin commemoration in Glasgow, Scotland, and also contributed to the first U.S. memorial to the victims of Deir Yassin, a bronze sculpture depicting an uprooted olive tree on land donated by McGowan. The sculpture was created by the renowned Arab-American artist Khalil Bendib. McGowan is the executive director of Deir Yassin Remembered. An article on the memorial accompanied McGowan's article.
