Literacy Volunteers of Ontario County is now looking for residents ready to “Leap into Fall” by helping others learn to read and write English.
The agency's next Tutor Training Workshop will begin with orientation Sept. 9 at the agency office, 208 S. Main St., Canandaigua.
Workshop sessions will be from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays Sept. 13-Oct. 7, and attendance at all workshop sessions is required.
Tutors must be at least 18 years of age, have an interest in helping adult students to learn, high school graduate (or hold a GED), able to attend the entire training program and complete homework assignments, and willing to devote at least two hours per week to working with an adult student.
Tutors do not need any teaching background or any knowledge of a foreign language.
