Poker run, picnic set as benefit

NAPLES — A family motorcycle poker run and picnic are planned for Sunday, Aug. 28, beginning and ending at Ontario County Park on Gannett Hill in South Bristol.

The run, a scenic trip through the Finger Lakes, will begin with registration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Riders will go along Keuka Lake and return to the park by 5 p.m. for a family picnic for riders, family and friends.

All monies will go to the Clair Elizabeth Elliott Memorial Scholarship Fund to honor a 16-year-old senior at Naples Central School who died Sept. 23, 2003, after a car accident. The fund has been set up to help with tuition for students who would not qualify for other scholarships and who have talents “other than strict academics: artistic, culinary, musical, spiritual or something else.”

Cash and prizes for the top three hands will be awarded at the picnic.

Donations of $20 per person for the ride include a T-shirt and picnic dinner; kids under 12 are $12. Picnic only is $6 for adults and $4 for kids under 12.
