GENEVA — Actors don't get more deadpan than Bill Murray. Directors don't get more deadpan than Jim Jarmusch. And their latest collaboration, “Broken Flowers,” which won the Grand Prize at May's Cannes Film Festival, begins Friday, Oct. 7 at the Smith Opera House.
As Don Johnston, a lifelong woman-chaser, Murray mopes throughout “Broken Flowers” with the weary gaze of a joyless man trapped in a world that gives him diversion but no pleasure. And the aftermath of happiness is actually what the film is all about: it's a tale of an American Cassanova forced to face the consequences of his past seasons of love.
The film may be seen at 7 p.m. Oct. 7, 8, 10 and 11; it is rated R and has a running time of 1:45 minutes. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens. For details, call (315) 781-LIVE or toll-free (866) 355-LIVE.
