Kids’ play on homelessness coming to the Smith

GENEVA — “Danny, King of the Basement” a whimsical and poignant play about a 10 year-old boy and his mother, produced by Canada’s Roseneath Theatre, may be seen at 10 a.m. and noon on Monday, Nov. 7 at Smith Opera House, as part of the 2005-06 “ArtSmart Theatre for Young People” series.

In two years, Danny Carter and his mother have moved eight times. But far from being overcome by his homelessness, Danny appears to be thriving. In fact, he can pack his bags faster than most kids can tie their shoelaces. He can make a friend in a morning and a best friend in a day.

The play has won critical acclaim and is the winner of two Dora Awards and the Canada Council for the Arts “Theatre for Young Audiences” Prize.

All seats are $4.50 and may be reserved by calling the Smith Opera House at 781-LIVE or toll-free at (866) 355-LIVE.
