Madrigalia plans holiday concerts

Madrigalia, an 18-voice chamber ensemble, has scheduled three concerts of “Holiday Favorites.”

The program celebrating the group's 30th anniversary will include favorite Christmas songs, works for chorus and four-hands piano by Howard Helvey, arrangements by Rochesterian Cary Ratcliff, Alfred Burt carols, some P.D.Q. Bach and many more favorites.

Concerts will begin:
• At 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 183 N. Main St., Canandaigua; tickets are $10 each; for details, call (585) 394-4818.
• At 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at St. Anne's Church, 1600 Mount Hope Ave., Rochester; tickets are $15 general admission, $12 for senior citizens and $8 for students; for details, call (585) 473-2234.
• At 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18 at St. Luke's Church, 14 State St., Brockport; admission is free with a suggested donation of $5; for details, call (585) 637-6650.

Madrigalia, under the direction of Roger Wilhelm, was founded in 1975. The group's repertoire includes traditional and contemporary styles exploring secular and sacred choral literature.

CDs are available at concerts and at Borders on Hylan Drive and at Barnes and Noble on Monroe Avenue, both in Rochester.
