This month, the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education will host the annual Behind the Scenes career experience for HWS students in Los Angeles, offering a unique chance to connect with the Hollywood producers, writers, actors and industry professionals in the HWS Career Network.
Led by Professor of English Grant Holly and Associate Professor of Media & Society Lisa Patti, students will hear from alums, parents and recruiters who are leaders in the media and entertainment world. The three days of panel discussions, site visits and receptions will highlight careers in film and television production, writing, music and other sectors of Hollywood, as well as breaking into the industry with a panel featuring HWS graduates from the past decade.
During the trip, students will also have the opportunity to connect with members of the HWS community at the Colleges’ L.A.-area Holiday Reception, hosted by author Eric Lax ’66, L.H.D. ’93 and Karen Sulzberger.
The Salisbury Center hosts a range of career and networking events each winter break, including the Finance Experience in New York and Boston, and Day on the Hill in Washington, D.C., and more, offering insight into careers in banking, finance, government, journalism, public policy, media and entertainment, and the nonprofit sector.
At these events, students establish important professional connections, engage with new people and perspectives, and even land internships and set the stage for possible future employment.
