Dear Members of the Hobart and William Smith Community,
During the past week, the Colleges identified three positive cases of COVID-19 through contact tracing; all were a result of contact with the one case we shared in our message last week. The Colleges conducted 301 surveillance tests during this period and all were negative. This morning there are 14 students in quarantine, primarily because of travel.
As we witness COVID-19 clusters at local colleges and universities as well as an increase in COVID-19 cases at the local, state and national levels, it is essential that we take seriously the directive to maintain social distancing, limit travel to the extent possible, and abide by the restrictions on visitation from non-HWS community members. Small gatherings of friends and family remain a source of viral spread and we must remain vigilant. If travel is absolutely necessary, please be certain to notify the Colleges. In these cases, student quarantine space is available.
A reminder that the Colleges are sponsoring Flu Clinics during the next two weeks. Per all public health guidance, the Colleges encourage all members of the community to receive a Flu shot. Flu shots will be available to all members of the HWS community at Bartlett Theatre on:
- Thursday October 15, 10 am to 4 pm
- Friday October 16, 10 am to 2 pm
In addition, flu shots for employees will be available at Bartlett Theatre on:
- Wednesday October 14, 10 am to 2 p.m.
We thank everyone for their continued diligence and wish everyone a good week.
