LGBTQ+ Student Organizations

Change Starts Here

Change Starts Here was founded in 2014 by three students, and currently stands as an education and administrative based organization that exists on the HWS campus to help fight for and make the changes that our school needs for LGBTQIA+ students by working directly with the staff of our colleges. The primary goal of Change is to make the Colleges a more welcoming place for all identities, and to educate our community on what those identities are.

Hobart and William Smith Pride Alliance

Pride Alliance provides a safe space for students who identify as LGBTQI and allies to talk about various issues and topics that pertain to the LGBT movement as well as other pressing issues on campus that might personally affect us. We also work together to promote LGBT awareness and acceptance through campus events, community activism and cross club collaborations. pride@hws.edu

Queer People of Color Theme House (QPoC)

Hobart and William Smith Colleges have one LGBTQ+ themed house: QPoC House. This house is home to many of the queer people of color who attend Hobart and William Smith. The house is a safe and accepting environment for LGBTQ+ students and facilitates conversations about intersectionality on campus and in broader contexts. QPoC house host events to educate and celebrate LGBTQ+ identities.
