Students in the Dance Department’s technique and theory courses will present excerpts from classwork at the End of Term Studio Showing on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 7 p.m. in the Deming Dance Theatre of the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts.
The Studio Showing, which is open to members of the HWS community, will showcase a wide variety of dance styles from students in a range of courses, including: Beginning Dance Technique,Introduction to Global Dance Forms, Intermediate Ballet, Intermediate Modern Dance,Intermediate Jamaican Dance II, Dance Composition, and Community Arts: Wellness, Environment, Culture.
Hobart and William Smith’s Dance Department offers a plethora of disciplinary and interdisciplinary courses for students to explore the theory and technique of dance and broaden their interdisciplinary understanding of the field. The dance major or minor can be disciplinary, focusing on performance and/or choreography, or students can also choose from one of three interdisciplinary dance major concentrations – dance education, movement studies or theory and performance.
