Hannah Bilton ’22
My name is Hannah Bilton and I am a rising junior at Hobart and William Smith from Westchester, New York. At the Colleges, I am a double major in international relations and biology. I am hoping to add another major in political science. I am super engaged in campus life and in our community. I am a member of the Koshare Dance Collective, the Dean’s Advisory Council, the Public Leadership Education Network and our religious life organizations, and am on the varsity William Smith Crew team.
This is what a typical Monday looks like for me (pre-coronavirus of course!):
6:15 a.m. - Wake up and meet my friend to walk to the RFK Gym
6:30 a.m. - Arrive at Lift and stretch, where I’ll roll out and talk with teammates
6:45 a.m. - Start Lift! Lift is so much fun, and I absolutely adore both Coach K and Coach Gray (and Coach Gray’s dog Harper who comes in at least once a week).
7:30 a.m. - I eat breakfast with the team. Nick, the chef who makes eggs in the morning, knows everyone’s usual order. We always have a nice conversation!
8 a.m. - I go back to Blackwell House, where I have two roommates. I usually wake them up and then we get ready for our
classes together. I also like to get an iced mocha latte at ABP before class.
10:15 a.m. - I go to my “Ecology” course. Currently, my lab group and I are working on our own National Geographic style film of wildlife around us. We chose to look at the relationship between students and the squirrels on campus.
12 p.m. - I grab lunch with my friends. We usually “Saga sit” for a while.
2 p.m. - I go to my Holocaust studies class. It can be very emotional. Professor Dobkowski is passionate about the material.
3:30 p.m. - I head to the trainers’ room before practice. They are the nicest people in the world. A bunch of athletes are usually
there receiving treatment. If I finish early, they let me act as their assistant.
4:45 p.m. - If it is nice out, we practice on the Cayuga-Seneca Canal. In the winter, we hit the Erg machines in the gym.
7:30 p.m. - Both the William Smith and Hobart crew teams grab dinner together.
8:30 p.m. - I get back to my room, shower and socialize with my roommates. I also do homework and my readings.
10 p.m. - I usually go to bed because I’ll be up early again for my workout. I have become a master at going to sleep with noise or lights as both my roommates go to bed way later than I do!.
