Teaching Experience

Dr. Calabrese has held positions at West Chester University in Pennsylvania and Nazareth College of Rochester. He has taught percussion methods, applied percussion, and has directed and arranged music for concert and marching ensembles since the 1990s. 

Research

An Annotated Catalog of Marimba Concertos with Winds A catalog of 47 concertos involving one or two solo marimbas wind/brass accompaniment. The document offers charts that sort works by important details such as instrumentation, performance time, and solo instrument range and techniques, to aid performers as they set out to learn and select works.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATIONS

Dr. Calabrese performs with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, the RPO Marimba Band, Rochester Lyric Opera, Symphoria of Syracuse, and Geneva Light Opera. Dr. Calabrese is a member of the Percussive Arts Society Keyboard Committee.

SERVICE PROJECTS

The (former) Colleges Percussion Ensemble performed at West Street School in Geneva.
