Game Day Lineup for Homecoming Weekend

Hobart and William Smith Colleges will host its annual Homecoming and Family Weekend Sept. 27-29. The fun-filled weekend will include four home athletic contests, alumni and alumnae gatherings and the dedication of the Thomas B. Poole ’61 and Family Sports Dome.

Opening earlier this year, the Thomas B. Poole ’61 and Family Sports Dome will be officially dedicated on Saturday at 11 a.m. The $3.5 million state-of-the-art practice facility gives the Colleges’ field teams a place to practice in any weather. Hobart and William Smith Trustee Thomas B. Poole ’61, L.H.D. ’06 and his wife, Mary Jane Poole P’91, were instrumental in making the new facility a reality through a lead gift for the fundraising campaign.

The Hobart tennis team will kick off the weekend action, hosting the ITA Northeast Regional Championships. Matches are scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. on Friday. The field of 64 singles players and 32 doubles teams will be whittled down to the Northeast Champions by Sunday afternoon. Hobart senior Alan Dubrovsky is the defending singles champion. He also teamed up with junior Walker Anderson to capture the 2018 doubles regional title. Matches will be played on the eight outdoor courts of the HWS Tennis Center and the five indoor courts of the Bristol Field House.

It will be the Liberty League opener for both teams. The nationally-ranked Hobart football team kicks off at 1 p.m. against Montclair State University. The Red Hawks will make their first trip to Boswell Field at David J Urick Stadium to face an undefeated Statesmen squad that is ranked No. 22 in the latest coaches poll and No. 25 in the D3football.com poll.
