Kim Wilson Vincent will host holiday events at the President’s House this November and December that will offer students “fun opportunities to build community on campus and to connect with our Geneva neighbors,” Vincent says.
On Wednesday, Nov. 8, students are invited to 690 S. Main Street to decorate boxes that will be used to collect goods for the HWS food pantry. The event, held from 5 to 7 p.m., is sponsored in conjunction with the HWS Chaplain’s office.
The new food pantry arrives this fall under the direction of the Office for Spiritual Engagement. The pantry is located in Room 012-Demarest. To raise awareness, students have been tabling for the food pantry in the Scandling Campus Center and have dubbed the space, “Pass the Plate.”
The food pantry initiative is completely donation based. Items can be dropped off at locations across campus, including the Chaplain’s Office (Room 22-Demarest), Trinity Hall (second floor), Coxe Hall (second floor, Senior Dean of Faculty office), Smith Hall (first floor), Intercultural Affairs (first floor) and at the Counseling Center.
On Thursday, Dec. 7, a holiday “ugly sweater party” will be held at the President’s House from 5 to 7 p.m., to celebrate the holiday season before the end of the semester. Holiday cookies will be served, and wooden ornaments will be available for students to decorate. Linden Bascom ’20, aka DJ YOGAFIRE, will provide music for the event. All students are welcome to attend.
