As part of the National Day of Service, the Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning (CCESL) encourages students to participate in virtual or socially distanced service opportunities.

“Write an an elected official to advocate for an issue of personal importance. Make get well cards for people hospitalized with coronavirus through the ‘Get Well World’ initiative, or commit to becoming a youth digital literacy mentor for the semester with ‘Write Away,” Director of CCESL Katie Flowers says. A list of further opportunities compiled by CCESL is available here. Contact serve@hws.edu to learn more.

“As the impact of the virus is further understood on communities locally and throughout the country, everyone will be called upon to do what they are able.  In the words of Martin Luther Kind, ‘everyone can be great, because everyone can serve,’” Flowers says.
