In its 2019 rankings of “Best Value Colleges,” the Washington, D.C.-based financial and business publisher Kiplinger listed Hobart and William Smith among the nation’s top colleges and universities.
Kiplinger’s rankings take into account academic quality — including acceptance, retention and graduation rates — alongside tuition and financial aid related data. HWS placed 82nd among liberal arts colleges and 164th among the 400 total institutions listed.
This most recent recognition follows several other national accolades. Earlier this year, the Princeton Review ranked the Colleges’ alumnae and alumni network 15th in the nation in the 2019 edition of the “The Best Value Colleges: 200 Schools with Exceptional ROI for your Tuition Investment.”
Last year, for the second year in a row, the Princeton Review ranked the Colleges’ study abroad program first in the country. The 2019 edition of “The Best 384 Colleges” also ranks HWS at seventh in the nation for best student-rated professors (up from 18th the previous year), as well as 10th for most politically active students and 19th for intramural sports participation.
Also in 2018, for the second year in a row, Hobart and William Smith Colleges were named the top liberal arts institution for service in Washington Monthly’s College Guide and Rankings.
