Sailing World magazine has ranked Hobart and William Smith Colleges fourth in the nation among co-ed college sailing teams, and 19th among the women’s teams.
The rankings are determined by an open coaches poll. According to Sailing World, the online poll allows accredited coaches to submit a list of the top 20 coed and 15 women’s teams in the country. HWS joins Georgetown University, Yale University, Boston University and Boston College in the top five.
Earlier this month, HWS won the Jack Boeringer Memorial to start the season. The next week, the Colleges finished second at the New York Maritime Open and third at the Nevins Trophy.
This spring, the Colleges were named by Sports Illustrated and Money magazine among the nation’s best colleges and universities that offer great athletics matched by an outstanding education.
