The Hobart and William Smith lacrosse teams are back in action this weekend. The Herons will travel to Potsdam, N.Y., to take on Clarkson University on Friday, April 6 at 4 p.m., and then head to Canton to face St. Lawrence University on Saturday, April 7 at 3 p.m. At home, the Statesmen will battle Robert Morris University on Saturday, April 7 at noon on Boswell Field.
The Herons are riding a four-game winning streak, bringing a 7-3 overall record and a 4-0 mark in league play into the weekend. Friday’s game marks the 18th meeting between William Smith and Clarkson in a series that dates back to 2001. The Herons hold a 16-1 advantage. Saturday’s contest will be the 48th meeting between William Smith and St. Lawrence. The Herons hold a 32-15 advantage in a series that began in 1977. William Smith has won the past five meetings. The Herons are 11-6 when playing the Saints in Canton.
The Statesmen bring a 4-6 overall record and 1-1 mark in conference play into Saturday’s game. The Northeast Conference contest between Hobart and Robert Morris will be the ninth all-time meeting between the teams. The Statesmen lead the series 6-2, including wins in each of the past four meetings. Five of the showdowns with the Colonials have been decided by two goals or less, including last season’s 18-17 thriller.
At the Hobart game, volunteers will collect change donations for the special olympics in New York state.
