The Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning will host an information session on how HWS students can give back to the community through the Geneva Summer of Service internship program. The session will be take place on Monday, Feb. 5, from 12 – 1 p.m. in the Café of the Scandling Campus Center.
Established in 2010, the Summer of Service program provides internships at local non-profit organizations in June, July and August. Summer interns receive on-campus housing and a $3,000 stipend.
Previously, interns have made significant contributions to reducing waste in landfills by organizing the Community Sale, developed strategic marketing and communication tools for the City of Geneva, and volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club of Geneva.
Students interested in the program are encouraged to attend the session. Attendees are asked to bring a bag lunch. Applications are due by 5 p.m. on March 9.
Candidates for the program may be required to interview for a position with a community partner during the application process. Final decisions are released in April.
