The Counseling Center provides free, confidential services for HWS students, including individual and group counseling; emergency psychological services; and outreach and educational programming. The Counseling Center also offers psychological consultation to students, faculty and staff as well as parents and families who are concerned about a student.
The staff of The Counseling Center are committed to delivering professional services that respect both individual differences and our common humanity. Our professional guidelines and personal values call us to recognize prejudice, privilege, and discrimination in all of its forms (including gender identity, race, ethnicity, culture, religion, sexual orientation, disability, socioeconomic status, and more), and to become aware of the effects on individuals and groups to which those individuals belong. We seek to apply this commitment in all of our professional activities, and to support the growth of communities that work better for everyone.
The Hubbs Health Center strives to reduce the risk of individual illness and injury, enhance health as a strategy to support student learning and advocate for safety, social justice and human dignity. Hubbs provides students with assistance for illness and injury, women’s and men’s health care, limited laboratory services and psychotropic medication consult and monitoring. At this time, the campus health center does not provide transgender/gender nonconforming specific healthcare. We urge transgender/gender nonconforming students to seek LGBTQ+ specific care at the following locations:
