HWS Director of Chorale and Cantori, Professor of Music Robert Cowles, will present a Madrigal Dinner Concert, an evening of fine dining and entertainment, on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. in the Vandervort Room of the Scandling Campus Center.
The event will include performances by the Chorale and Cantori of both general and holiday repertoire and interspersed with an elegant five-course meal catered by Sodexo Campus Services. A tradition dating from the English Renaissance period, Madrigal Dinner Concerts are popular on many U.S. college campuses; the Chorale and Cantori have hosted a Madrigal Dinner annually at HWS since 2000.
The Madrigal Dinner has also functioned as a benefit concert for a different local cause each year. Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit Rural & Migrant Ministry, an organization that serves and assists migrant communities throughout New York State.
Tickets, which are $35 (general) and $15 (HWS students) can be purchased online. Those wishing to send an additional donation (or wishing to send a donation in lieu of attending) can mail a check to Professor Robert Cowles, Music Department, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, 300 Pulteney Street, Geneva, N.Y. 14456. Checks can be made payable to “Hobart and William Smith Colleges Madrigal Dinner.” For further information, contact Cowles at email@example.com.
