21 June 2024 • Alums Best Value, Best Alumni Network, Best for Internships: Princeton Review
HWS shines in The Princeton Review’s 2024 rankings for return on investment, alumni network and career preparedness.
For the ninth consecutive year, Hobart and William Smith has been named to The Princeton Review’s Best Value Colleges 2024 list for students seeking a stellar education, affordability and strong career prospects.
HWS also ranked 13th in the nation among private schools for “Best Alumni Network” and 14th in the nation as “Best for Internships.”
The Princeton Review published their findings on June 20.
Only 209 schools were selected for the Best Value Colleges 2024 list based on data from surveys of administrators, currently enrolled students, and from payscale.com data for alumni, who reported their starting and mid-career salaries and job satisfaction. Survey topics covered everything from academics, cost, and financial aid to graduation rates and student debt.
In all, The Princeton Review crunched more than 40 data points to tally ROI (Return on Investment) ratings. In explaining their methodology, The Princeton Review said the chosen colleges are exceptional because:
“Students who attend these schools don't have to mortgage their futures to pay for their degrees—and we believe they will graduate with great career prospects.” The Princeton Review“Students who attend these schools don't have to mortgage their futures to pay for their degrees—and we believe they will graduate with great career prospects.”
Editor-in-Chief of The Princeton Review Rob Franek adds, “Out of the more than 650 schools we considered on this project, the 209 we chose as our 2024 Best Value Colleges are, in our opinion truly the most exceptional in the nation at delivering great academics, affordable cost, and great career foundations. We strongly recommend and salute the colleges we present here for all that they do to help their students with need afford to attend them while delivering an amazing college experience that's worth every penny.”
The “Best for Internships” list is determined by students’ ratings of accessibility of internships. HWS’ Guaranteed Internship Program is a signature offering of the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education, helping students identify opportunities in their field and ensuring they never have to make a tough decision between an unpaid opportunity and their future.
“Best Alumni Network” is determined by students’ ratings of alumni activity and visibility on campus. Hobart and William Smith alumni are embedded in every professional field imaginable and are active in giving back to their alma mater. In a historic year of philanthropy, HWS received more than $100M in annual giving.
Earlier this academic year, Hobart and William Smith was included in the “Professors Get High Marks,” “Best Career Services” and “Green Matters: Everyone Cares About Conservation” lists in the Princeton Review’s Best 389 Colleges. Read more here.
