NYC Career Experience Programs with HWS Network

During winter break, students will connect with an expansive network of HWS alums, parents and supporters throughout the Big Apple through the annual NYC Finance Experience program and the Behind the Scenes media and entertainment program.

Hosted by the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education, the extended networking opportunities draw nearly 100 volunteers from the HWS community — and recruiters from their companies — who meet with HWS students, share experience and advice, and help them prepare for their future careers.

“These career experience programs are invaluable tools for our students to hone their interests and discover new avenues to turn those passions into their careers,” says Interim President Patrick A. McGuire L.H.D. ’12, who led the Finance Experience during his tenure as an HWS economics professor. “Moreover, students have unique opportunities to connect with industry leaders with the shared background of an HWS education, which can often lead to mentorships, internships and job offers.”

Throughout the week of Jan. 14, the Finance Experience and Behind the Scenes programs will feature panel discussions, presentations, tours and receptions with HWS graduates, parents and friends of the Colleges.

The Finance Experience participants include executives, analysts, bankers, insurance and human resources professionals from leading companies including: Amherst Pierpont Securities, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Bloomberg, Chubb Insurance and AON Insurance, Citi Private Bank, Colliers International, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, IHS Markit, JP Morgan Chase, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management, Prudential and Standard & Poors.

With the Behind the Scenes program, students will meet media and entertainment professionals at ABC, CBS, CNN, Facebook, The Hollywood Reporter, MTV, MWWPR, Psyop, Showtime and Spark Foundry.

As part of both programs, students will be able to connect further with members of the HWS Career Network at the Colleges’ New Year’s Reception in New York City.
