Charles MacCormack, President and chief executive officer of Save the Children Federation, Inc.

Save the Children, a nonprofit, private organization headquartered in Westport, Conn., has programs in 18 states and 40 countries. The agency is committed to helping disadvantaged children by implementing programs that focus on primary health care, microenterprise and basic education. Save the Children also supports refugee assistance programs in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, and provides humanitarian relief assistance worldwide.
Prior to heading Save the Children Federation, MacCormack served as president of the peace organization World Learning, based in Brattleboro, Vt. He currently serves as co-chair of the Basic Education Coalition and the Campaign for Effective Global Leadership, and is a member of several boards, including those of the Council on Foreign Relations, InterAction, Voluntary Foreign Aid and the Food Security Advisory Committee.
MacCormack also has served as president of the nongovernmental committee for UNICEF and as a member of the board of directors of the Arthur D. Little Management Education Institute. King Hussein of Jordan had made him a member of the Grand Cordon of the Order of Al-Istiolal as well.
As an educator, MacCormack has served as assistant to the dean of the International Fellows Program at Columbia University and as an instructor of Latin American politics at the University of New Hampshire.
MacCormack holds a doctorate and master’s degree from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College. He participated in a special three-year program at the Harvard Business School on the leadership of global nonprofit organizations.
He is the father of Cameron Ross-MacCormack, a first-year student at Hobart College.
