Chuck Todd joins the 2010 President's Forum Series at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, kicking off the fall lineup.
With less than 50 days left before the 2010 midterm elections, one of the nation's top political observers visited campus for the President's Forum to discuss the crucial midterm elections and implications for the majorities in the Congress and the Obama presidency.
Chuck Todd, Chief White House Correspondent and Political Director for NBC News, presented a talk titled " Previewing November 2nd: A discussion on the midterm elections with Chuck Todd" on Saturday, Sept. 25 at 10:30 a.m. in Albright Auditorium during the Homecoming and Family Weekend celebrations.
Co-host of MSNBC's "The Daily Rundown," Todd is NBC News' political director, serving as the on-air political analyst for "NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams," "Today," "Meet the Press" and MSNBC. He is responsible for all aspects of the network's political coverage.
Before joining NBC News, Todd was the editor-in-chief of National Journal's "The Hotline" for six years. In his 15 years working at "The Hotline" or one of its affiliates, Todd became one of Washington's foremost experts on political campaigns of all levels. He has written a highly-regarded weekly column for NationalJournal.com and MSNBC.com focusing on the big picture battles for the White House and control of the Senate and House. He also serves as a contributing editor to "The Atlantic Monthly."
Todd has frequently appeared on television to offer analysis of campaigns and political events of the day, including MSNBC's "Hardball with Chris Matthews" and weekly appearances on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal." He has also offered analysis for print publications and has been quoted in hundreds of daily newspapers. His op-ed essays have been published in The New York Times and the Washington Post.
During the 2004 elections, he moderated one of the few presidential candidate forums in Iowa. In addition to Todd's extensive media presence, he teaches a graduate-level political communications course at Johns Hopkins University. He is also the editor of "First Read," NBC's guide to political news and trends in and around Washington, D.C., writes weekly analysis columns for MSNBC.com, and hosts regular online politics discussions on Newsvine.
In December 2005, Todd was featured as one of "Washingtonian's 'Best Of'" journalists. In March 2001, "George" magazine named him one of the 50 most influential people in politics.
