Dear Members of the Hobart and William Smith Community,

As we enter Week 5 of the fall semester, our number of positive COVID-19 cases has been falling and we are cautiously optimistic that this trend will persist. We continue to urge all members of our community who have not already done so to become fully vaccinated. Our next Pfizer clinic is on Sept. 27 in the Field House and is for those receiving their first, second or booster shot. Sign up is required.

All employees (including all faculty and staff) and students (including those living on and off campus, but not those studying abroad) must fill out a daily Wellness Assessment every day. Both forms are also linked on the COVID-19 Dashboard. After filling out the form, should an employee have any questions about whether or not to report to work, they should contact their supervisor for clarification.

Homecoming & Family Weekend begins on Friday with nearly every event outdoors, including the President’s State of the Colleges on Saturday morning. All visitors must wear a face covering while in any campus buildings, and visitors are not allowed in residence halls. Outdoors, we are asking visitors to maintain a physical distance of at least three feet or wear a face covering. We hope these safety measures will ensure that everyone has a good experience at the many events happening this weekend. Events include the student research symposium, numerous athletics contests, a Davis Gallery art exhibition, the campus resource fair, the Dance Department’s informal showing, a theatrical walking tour, and the Perkins Observatory open house, as well as many opportunities to experience our campus and community. All members of the HWS community are welcome to all Homecoming & Family Weekend events. Information and registration information can be found at the Homecoming & Family Weekend homepage

Finally, a recording of last Friday’s Zoom presentation and the slide deck regarding the NY HERO Act Exposure Prevention Plan are now available online on the COVID-19 Dashboard site. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please contact us.

Sincerely,

Sarah Kirk
