This Week in Photos: Best Photos of the Decade
- In this special edition of This Week in Photos, Chief Photographer Kevin Colton curates his favorite photos from the past decade. In 2009, Colton traveled to Eastern Egg Rock Island to capture Robert Taylor '11 and Elizabeth Zinsser '10 as they interned with Puffin Project at the National Audubon Society's Seabird Restoration Program.
- In 2011, students led by Weston Traub '13 (center) take the polar plunge in Seneca Lake as part of a fundraiser coordinated by Hope House to support cancer research. Colton captured this photograph while wearing waders.
- In 2012, Jenny Wu '12 paints the sunrise by the Bozzuto Boathouse. Wu interned for Colton as a student photographer in the Office of Communications.
- In 2013, lake steaming occurs on Seneca Lake on a -17 F day.
- In 2016, stars shine above St. John's Chapel. Colton captured the scene after taking photographs of the annual fireworks display at Reunion.
- In the fall of 2016, students march across campus as part of the Black Lives Matter candlelight vigil.
- Snow blankets the William Smith Hill. The statue was created by Professor of Art and Architecture A. E. Ted Aub.
- In 2014, construction begins on the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts.
- In 2016, Morgan Drake '16 dances at sunset on the Stine Terrace of the Gearan Center for the Performing Arts.
- In 2016, William Smith rowers glide across Seneca Lake at dusk. The photo captured the Gold Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
- The stages of the 2016 Lunar Eclipse viewed from the Geneva Lakefront. The image was created by layering photos taken at 15 minute intervals as the moon crossed the sky.
- Members of the Hobart and William Smith sailing team practice on Seneca Lake in 2017. The team finished fourth at the ICSA Singlehanded Championship. Colton took the photograph from a boat steered by Coach Scott Iklé '84.
- In 2017, the sun sets over the Village at Odell's Pond.
- A view of campus in 2018. This photograph is Colton's first drone shot of campus.
- In July 2019, star trails frame the Bozzuto Boathouse. Colton photographed the scene for two hours, shooting every 30 seconds to capture the Earth's movement. This photo was also the cover of the 2019 fall issue of the Pulteney Street Survey.
