Reinharz to Intern at the Tennis Channel

David Reinharz ’19, a member of the Hobart tennis team, recently secured an internship as a media research analyst with the Tennis Channel in New York City.

DavidReinherzAn American studies major and political science minor, Reinharz will assist in building analyses, reports and sales presentations to support programming, scheduling and industry relations. He will use qualitative and quantitative data gathered from Nielsen, Ipsos, Rentrak/comScore, GFk MRI and other data sources, and track trends in audience behavior for the Tennis Channel, Tennis.com, Tennis magazine and other competitors.

The Tennis Channel is a 24-hour broadcast television and online streaming network dedicated to both the sport and the lifestyle of tennis. The network is carried nationwide by the top multiple-system operators, as well as DirecTV and DISH Network.

“What attracted me most to Hobart were the great academics, the small beautiful campus and the outstanding tennis program with a close-knit group of teammates,” says Reinharz, who transferred to HWS from Brandeis University as a junior. “I like having the opportunity to interact with my professors directly. My experience playing for the Statesmen has been awesome to say the least.”

In the classroom, he was named a Hobart Heritage Scholar and is a member of Epsilon Alpha Kappa, the American studies honor society. Reinharz earned a spot on the Dean’s List and is a two-time ITA Scholar-Athlete. He is also an HWS Hillel board member and volunteers for HWS Days of Service and the HWS Sunday tennis clinics.

On the court, Reinharz has helped the Statesmen achieve a 12-6 record this year. He has posted a 4-3 singles record this season, playing at No. 5 and 6 in the lineup. Reinharz played in 15 singles matches and 16 doubles matches last year.

In 2017, Reinharz interned with Topnotch Management, a small boutique sports agency in New York City that represents notable tennis players such as John Isner, who ranks No. 8 in the world.

He says the combined experiences prepare him for a future in the sports industry. “Learning more about the business side of sports will help me to move further down the path toward future success in that world.”
