With a passion for investment and the desire to explore new areas of the financial sector, Cody Roberts ’20 joins the Chicago firm William Blair as a private wealth management intern this summer.
“I’m excited to learn about private wealth management in a hands-on way among some of the most respected advisers in the field,” says Roberts, a mathematics major who will collaborate with executives to evaluate potential clients, execute data entry, conduct research and assist in financial transactions.
For Roberts, the day-to-day at William Blair reflects his interests in economics and math. “I’m a numbers person and enjoy client relationships, so that combination inspired me to pursue this opportunity,” says Roberts, who worked closely with the Salisbury Center for Career, Professional and Experiential Education to refine his resume, prep for interviews and network with contacts like William Blair financial advisor Robert Fix P’15, P’17 to find the right fit among opportunities.
“Getting an inside look at some of the largest banks and insurance firms in the United States from leaders on Wall Street with ties to the Colleges helped me get a better sense of what path I want to pursue after HWS,” says Roberts, who met industry leaders and young professionals in the heart of New York City’s Financial District during the annual HWS Finance Experience Program in January.
On campus, Roberts serves as a calculus Teaching Fellow and treasurer of HWS CrossFit. He is earning certification from the HWS Leads program and is a member of the Finance Society.
