Professor of Art and Architecture Nick Ruth received a Juror’s Choice Award for his monoprint and colored pencil print “Gathering,” during the 2017 Louisiana International Printmaking Exhibition. “Gathering” was one of three prints by Ruth selected for inclusion in the show.
The exhibition, which presented a survey of contemporary printmaking with artists from the United States and Canada, was juried by Ben Hickey, curator of collections and exhibitions at the Masur Museum of Art in Louisiana.
Ruth’s work has appeared in more than 100 exhibitions nationally and internationally, including “9th Triennale Modiale de l’Estampe Chamalieres,” Chamalieres, France; “2nd Global Print 2015,” International Invitational, Douro, Portugal; the “Pacific States Biennial National Exhibition,” and the “Atlanta Print Biennial.” Ruth has received recognition for his work from the Dallas Museum of Art, the New York State Council on the Arts, and the Constance Saltonstall Foundation.
He joined the faculty of Hobart and William Smith in 1995. He earned his B.A. in studio art from Pomona College and his M.F.A. in painting from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University.
