Sodexo Provides Food Pantry Grant

Hobart and William Smith Colleges were recently awarded a grant that will be used to subsidize the Pass the Plate Food Pantry, the on-campus food pantry operated by the Office of Spiritual Engagement.

The grant, applied for by Sodexo General Manager Dave McCandless, is provided by the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation. Created in 1999, the foundation works to combat hunger and food insecurity on college campuses. Grants are provided to institutions where Sodexo employees play an active role in an on-campus food pantry.

The Pass the Plate Food Pantry, established in 2018, provides food and personal care item assistance to any member of the immediate HWS community. The pantry is open to all with no background or financial checks — only a valid HWS ID is required.

Pass the Plate is a member of The College & University Food Bank Alliance, a professional organization of campus-based programs focused on alleviating food insecurity, hunger and poverty among college and university students in the United States.
