The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) recently named Dr. William H. Truswell Jr. ’68, P’01 to serve as president of the organization for the 2017-2018 term year. Today, Truswell’s practices in Easthampton, Mass., and Seabrook Island, S.C. focus on cosmetic facial surgery.
“My goals for this coming year are to reinforce the AAFPRS code of ethics and continue to educate the public in seeking qualified, trained and experienced facial plastic surgeons for their needs,” says Truswell. “When we further elevate public trust, it leads to safer, better facial plastic surgery outcomes.”
A frequent lecturer in the United States, South America, Asia and Europe, Truswell has been a member of the AAFPRS for more than 40 years and is a fellow on the FACE TO FACE Committee – the AAFPRS National Domestic Violence Project, and is a Clinical Instructor at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his general surgery training in Syracuse, and did a dual residency in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery and facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He has completed 8 medical mission trips to Vietnam, China and Dubai.
While at the Colleges, Truswell was a member of Delta Chi fraternity, Canterbury Club and the Statesmen squash team. As a student of chemistry, Truswell made dean’s list and was an Honors student.
