Alum Engagement Leaders Take on New Roles

Regan Kathy 4After leading Hobart and William Smith’s respective alumni and alumnae outreach efforts for many years, Jared Weeden ’91 and Kathy Killius Regan ’82, P’13 have accepted new positions in the Colleges’ senior advancement operations and administration.

Regan, who headed up alumnae relations as associate vice president for advancement, was  named chief of staff to President Joyce P. Jacobsen earlier this year. Weeden, who served as associate vice president for advancement for alumni relations, has been named director of leadership gifts. The Colleges are currently conducting a search for candidates to succeed them in their previous roles.

“Jared and Kathy combined have roughly 35 years as respective directors of alumni and alumnae relations, and have brought a heightened level of sophistication to our programs and events, from Campaign for the Colleges to presidential inaugurations to the William Smith Centennial,” says Vice President for Advancement Bob O’Connor P’22. “They have led the respective alumni and alumnae programs with integrity, pride and purpose. Their collective accomplishments have set a new bar for engagement.”

Weeden Jared 4Providing strategic leadership to the president’s office as Chief of Staff, Regan manages critical, institution-wide initiatives for the Colleges while also serving as the liaison between the Office of the President and all HWS constituencies on and off campus

In his new role focusing primarily on connecting HWS donors with fundraising priorities, Weeden covers the metro New York region, New Jersey and Philadelphia, working with members of various HWS constituencies to boost resources for scholarships, academic and co-curricular programming, facilities, and the Colleges’ endowment.

With the search for the next directors of alumni and alumnae relations ongoing, O’Connor says, “it’s a great thing to have Kathy and Jared on campus as resources for new directors. We are tremendously fortunate that their good counsel and experience will continue to guide the Colleges.”
