Why I Give

"I was inspired to give to the Abbe Center largely because of my own experience as a Jewish student at Hobart years ago. At the time, there was not a true sense of community among the Jewish students. Other than attending Seders organized by Temple Beth El, or bumping into one another in the dining hall when Saga (food services) did its best to accommodate students observing the holidays, there was no place to gather or get to know one another. The Abbe Center seems to fill that void. As a parent and grandparent, I want to see future generations of Jewish young men and women develop friendships and a strong sense of community. I am hopeful that my contribution to the Abbe Center, as well as the contributions of other Jewish alums, could help foster that environment."
