The Canadian Lacrosse Association recently announced the 32 players who will remain in the evaluation process for the final 23-man roster that will play in the 2020 Men’s Lacrosse U19 World Championship in Ireland in July. The list includes Hobart College sophomore attackman Jason Knox.
A member of the 2019 NEC All-Rookie Team, Knox started all 16 games of his first season with the Statesmen. He recorded at least a point in every game, finishing with 41 points. An accurate shooter, Knox led the NEC and was 13th in the nation with a .456 shooting percentage. He scored a Hobart Division I era record nine goals in just his second collegiate game as the Statesmen won 22-12 at Siena.
Knox was second on the team with 36 goals last season, the most scored by a first-year in Hobart’s Division I era. He broke the previous mark set by teammate and fellow countryman Justin Scott by seven.
Knox was one of 73 players that competed at an evaluation camp in Oshawa, Ontario, in late October. A second evaluation camp in the spring will be used to determine the final Team Canada roster that will compete in Limerick, Ireland, July 9-18.
Team Canada won the silver medal at the 2016 U19 championships.
